Join Les and Mary Claypool for a rare retrospective detailing their personal involvement with the English version of this groundbreaking feature film. Mary was the English ADR Scriptwriter, and Les owned the recording facility, Magnitude 8 Post, where casting and dubbing were performed. Les was also the Supervising Sound Editor and Additional Sound FX Designer. A few of the one of a kind stories include Mary's trip to Japan to meet with Mamoru Oshii and his team, her infamous “Macross Plus Laserdisc Incident” while meeting with Katsuhiro Otomo (creator of Akira) to discuss writing for "Memories", the crazy Batou casting story, Japanese and English sound FX issues, translation vs. final dub comparisons with script and video examples, heated mix stage “discussions”, and the full “standard issue big gun” story. The panel concludes with photos from the memorial that Les and Mary held celebrating the life and career of the late dubbing director Kevin Seymour.
